Former Boca Raton right-hander Alex ‘Chi Chi’ Gonzalez is officially a pro ballplayer.
Gonzalez, chosen in the first round (23rd overall) of the MLB Draft last Thursday by the Texas Rangers, passed his physical and signed a deal with the club on Monday.
A source told The Post the signing bonus was $2.215 million. According to Baseball America, the slot value (suggested bonus amount) for the 23rd overall pick is $1,920,600. Gonzalez is represented by Jason Wood of Arland Sports.
